The speaker for this month is:  David Straus, JD, LL.M, CPA and Elder law Attorney

The Topic will be:  Understanding living trusts, how they work, avoiding probate, and the impact of the new federal and state laws covering estate taxes.    

Mr. Straus will first focus on disability planning/living probate in order to avoid a guardianship and conservatorship.  He will cover living instructions outlining  who would step in to care for you as well as how you would like to be cared for specifically e.g. stay in your own home, go to an assisted care facility, nursing home, etc.. 

Second, Mr. Straus will cover how, when and the way to leave your property so that it is free of divorce, bankruptcy, lawsuits and creditors of your beneficiaries.   He will also focus on the state exemptions of creditor protected assets as well as umbrellas policies.  Then he will cover required minimum distributions for IRAs and pensions plans.

Last, Mr. Straus will focus on avoiding probate with a funded revocable living trust and estate taxes and the new federal and state laws that impact all of the above.

Mr. Straus will also cover ANNUITIES and if these type of investments are advisable for senior citizens
