Our speaker on September 14 will be Terry A. Shirey, President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Nevada State Bank. Mr. Shirey is responsible for all operational functions, including human resources, bank operations, facilities, business intelligence, treasury management, accounting, finance, marketing and product development. A licensed certified public accountant (CPA), Shirey has more than 19 years of experience in the financial industry, with the past 12 spent managing finance and operations for major banks and bank holding companies. Prior to joining the banking industry, he was an audit manager for the CPA firm of McGladrey & Pullen, LLP, supervising audits of financial institutions, including multi-bank holding companies. Mr. Shirey holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Wyoming. He serves as the Immediate Past-Chairman of the board of the Nevada Bankers Association, as Vice Chair of the College of Southern Nevada Foundation, as an Executive Committee Member of the Las Vegas Metro Chamber of Commerce Board of Trustees, and is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Nevada Society of Certified Public Accountants.
