Dan Schwartz, Treasurer for the State of Nevada, joined us for our October 11, 2017 meeting

Dan Schwartz, Treasurer for the State of Nevada, joined us for our October 11, 2017 meeting.  Since taking office in January 2015, the Treasurer’s Office has revamped the State’s investment program, tripling returns; backed ESAs and launched a College Savings Program aimed at creating a “culture of education” in Nevada; and, reduced the processing period in unclaimed property from 120 to 20 days.  He also successfully questioned the Faraday Future project in North Las Vegas, which saved the state $175 million in bad loans.  He spoke at length about the ESA's, and the funding issues that have developed.  He is an announced candidate for Nevada Governor in 2018.
